Nearly 25,000 households in Queensland's southeast found themselves experiencing outages on the start of the week after severe thunderstorms swept through the state, producing powerful gusts topping 109km/h.

Southern State's Weather Woes
Simultaneously, nearly one thousand households in Victoria also experienced electricity disruptions after the metropolitan area recorded its most precipitation in 18 months.
State Emergency Services handled 598 calls for help across the state, primarily for property damage but also for fallen timber and inundation.

At the height on the previous day, more than 28,000 electricity consumers in Victoria were experiencing outages.
Weather Forecast
Moist weather were predicted to continue along large portions of eastern Queensland this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to attract humidity against the coastal areas.
Tuesday was expected to become the heaviest precipitation period, with continued severe weather risk expected across various areas of both states.
Health Warning
Public health experts cautioned that there was an higher risk of weather-related respiratory issues across the countryside regions, specifically given the current weather patterns.
This caution comes after past events where comparable situations led to substantial respiratory problems in the region.
