Tehran is prepared to resume nuclear talks with the United States provided that it is treated with "dignity" and "respect", Iran's foreign minister has stated.

Abbas Araghchi declared only diplomacy worked, and disclosed fresh requests had come from mediators to resume talks with the US government. He asserted Iran did not have unreported enrichment locations, and Iran was not yet able to authorize the global atomic watchdog to access struck enrichment centers for safety concerns.

Navigating a Challenging Route

The foreign minister is navigating a complex course since Iran wishes not to be seen to be acting from a situation of vulnerability, and he insisted repeatedly that Iran had emerged stronger militarily and psychologically from the coordinated strike on its enrichment centers in June.

He was addressing at a security conference in Tehran where he reiterated that Iran had "an inalienable right to process nuclear material on home soil that it will always maintain" – the main reason of the impasse in the previous talks.

Earlier Talks Unexpectedly Concluded

The prior phases of talks between the United States and Iran were ended suddenly and bitter end on 12 June when Israel, with American backing, struck Tehran's atomic facilities in a fortnight-long engagement that ended with the US president declaring the sites had been eliminated. Subsequently, European countries used their authority to reimpose international penalties, but Iran maintains they have not had a significant effect.

Magic Solution Proposed

Iranian officials stated they felt they had achieved a "perfect agreement" to the uranium processing matter in prior discussions, when it was agreed an Iran-based consortium with US participation could refine atomic fuel. Each party would have been able to assert triumph since home-based processing would have remained and the US could be confident that Iran's enrichment initiative was entirely non-military.

It had not been decided in the discussions that Washington's technical specialists could function within Iranian territory, but that was a logical implication of the partnership suggestion. Representatives asserted three times they had reached agreement with Trump's special envoy the US official only for the agreement to disintegrate due to "opponents in the US".

Present Position

Tehran representatives said the partnership proposal was now withdrawn, but it seems highly likely the proposal could be resurrected in certain ways if talks reopen.

The Iran's state department has been criticized of non-responsiveness in the aftermath of the US president's straightforward manner, but Tehran says dialogue is not part of a show.

Political Position

In his remarks to the forum, designed to paint the US as a hegemonic power that exploits the idea of worldwide standards, the foreign minister declared the 12-day war showed the dispute could not be ended by combat operations. He asserted the assaults started with a American requirement for an total Iran submission and ended with an absolute demand for a ceasefire.

Iran is assured the first strikes by Israel were executed with complete American awareness and collaboration, making confidence challenging to restore.

In what is characterized by Iranian officials as the struggle of repair and reconstruction, the foreign minister stated he was assured Iran's defence capabilities "have significantly improved than before 13 or 14 June of this year. Every aspect of our defense have been reestablished. We acquired numerous insights from this engagement; we have come to know our internal vulnerabilities and the shortcomings of the adversary."

He stated: "We effectively endured this war. Our nuclear technology, which they aimed to eliminate, continues to exist. The installations and gear, if destroyed, will be rebuilt; what is essential is the resolve of the Iranian people and then the social solidarity that they sought to undermine, but failed to shatter. The nation of Iran have become more powerful, more cohesive, and more endorsing of the government and the country in the face of this assault."
